I hear that... as a young guy who still managed to cut his computer teeth 
on a sinclair (and later a c64), I find the lack of context in computing 
to be disturbing. You have to know where you've been to really forge your 
way into the future.

For instance, what truly amazes me is that I've met people who have just 
recently completed Physics, Applied Math, CompE, and EE degrees who 
managed to get completely through their college education without ever 
having to use a *nix terminal/machine! It's one thing to just be too young 
to have experienced using a vintage computer in it's heyday, it's another 
when educational systems are ignoring the most powerful and/or appropriate 
tools for the subject at hand, and the students are suffering a lack of 
breadth of computing experience as a result.
