There was a time when people actually knew on a cycle by cycle basis  
what was happening inside their computers.

Now, not even Microsoft or Apple can actually tell you, since the  
people who wrote the libraries are long gone...

Intel actually called me looking for the source code for one of their  
products (Bitbus), they lost it when they reassigned the application  
group.
