I went to my first hamfest ( a FrostFest in Richmond, Va ) when I was 6.
Bought my very first ARRL Handbook there, which I still have and a real nice
key, both of which I still have and I'm barely on the downhill slide towards
my 40's right now....

If you're near where your domain is registered, I can point you at several
hamfests sorta near Sunnyvale ( well, one is definatly near and the other is
a good long sunday drive to get to ) both of which I've gotten synth parts
from.  Completely hit or miss, sometimes there is nothing, other times I'm
using a cart to wheel stuff to my car.  2 swapmeets ago there was a pretty
insane amount of music gear.  One huge pile at one guys stall, and then
other stuff sprinkled over the rest of the meet like pixie dust...
