And some of us are here (OK, I'm 25, so if we aren't doing less than 
inclusive...) just quiet.

Actually I think part of the problem is that there's a real perception 
that electronics is a "black art". I don't know how many times I've had 
friends look at some of the things I take on and say "I wish I knew 
electronics so I could do things like that".

Then I have to remind them that I don't know electronics either. 
Thankfully there's all you old fogies out there that do so that novices 
like me can have some SDIY fun with the projects you make for us, and 
someday the cycle will begin again ;0)

Seriously though, people don't seem to think of electronics as the sort of 
hobby you can just dive on into, and that's a shame. There's something I 
find really calming about losing a few hours slaving over a hot board and 
iron.
