Hehe. I have a friend in NJ who lent me his car while I was there. I
came back with a bunch of stories from that trip, including checking out
a YMCA over the boarder in CT to see if rumor was true that there was a
hostile after taking a girl home from a concert in Oakland, NJ.....I
guess I was a little late and a pimp looking guy pulled up in a pimp
looking car as I was walking back to my car and started talking jive and
was offering me a place to stay......I seldom turn down an invitation
but...ahem..something didn't feel quite right and I had to be up at 7 am
to pick up the girl to run around NYC with the next day and decided to
find a motel in Stamford, CT.
Man they have crazy drivers there..or had in the late 80's anyway.
My uncle being one of the premier thereof. He misses his exit and slams
on the brakes....a guy in a caddy is sliding sideways out of control
behind us I see and I'm saying "It's ok Lee...let's just keep going and
we'll catch the next one". He got his foot back on the gas and the guy
avoided piling into us. He drove for the transit district. Must be a
fun bus ride.
Isn't this the kind of stuff that really inspires great synth
music though? I hadn't heard that NJ went to non-self serve gas
though. I don't believe they had that back then. However if inspector
clousseu had come up and asked "Excuse me...do you know the way to the
towne pimp"....hehe...I'd have been able to point the way. however I
didn't ask if he was self-service or not... (For those not famiar with
pink panther movies..ahhh don't worry about it). -Bob
