I was thinking of building a keyboard controller myself.
I think the best way may for me is to butcher a midi controller. The 
midibox guys have a circuit to merge midi so you could keep the original 
circuitry for the midi out on a basic controller and merge it with the 
knobs/sliders of the midibox and have a great diy midi controller.
