With the power off, check the voltage at the power supply pins of the static
RAM chips (probably pin 24). The voltage should be about 3 volts or so. If
you're not seeing 3 volts at that point, then work backwards from the RAM chips
to the battery backup supply. I know it sounds silly, but do make sure that
you soldered the new battery holder in with the correct polarity. Check the
diode that's part of the backup supply. Check all the solder connections in
that circuit section, including all the pins of the RAM chip(s). There's
probably one other CMOS gate IC that's in that circuit section (a 4011 or 4001 or
something like that) -- check it and its solder connections. There's really
not much else involved in that part of the circuit. If, after you check all of
these things, you're still having problems, you could call Kawai America's
service department (if you're in the USA). They may give you a bit of telephone
tech support, but be considerate and try not to take up much of their time --
