[sdiy] K1 not saving patches

I got hold of a K1 today that works completely, except it's missing all
of the factory presets or any data inside whatsoever. I scraped
something simple together purely to get a sound out of it, saved, and
it didn't hold it while powered off for more than a minute or two.

There's nothing obvious wrong with the board that I can see, and I just
replaced the backup battery (unsoldered the old one, put in a coin cell
holder instead, fresh cr2032.)

Anything else to look for that could go wrong?
