Roman Sowa (of s-diy) makes a number of PIC Midi boards.
I use one for my Midi Quantized Theremin
There are keyboard encoders and some others. iirc he was working
on a sequencer scanner as well...
Roman has been quiet lately. If he does not de-lurk at mention of his
name, I can try him off-list ;^P
