I buy my power cables used, at thrift stores, for just pennies apiece. I 
don't think the AC cord matters quite that much.

In a real emergency, I've also bought a few cheap $1.00 shielded RCA patch 
cables from a "dollar store", but those ARE crap.  :)

As long as I use bulk cable and connectors manufactured by reputable 
companies, I've had absolutely no problems with the shielded audio cables 
I've constructed for myself. Either Switchcraft or Neutrik seem to make 
good connectors, and Belden or Rapco seem to be able to make decent wire. 
I've been wanting to try Mogami bulk wire, because I've heard their name 
mentioned a lot. Is there another brand that is better, or maybe a better 
value for the money than Mogami?
