Most of the time I agree with this. Certainly manufacturing quality and
materials have some effect, but only in extreme cases does this make for a
large enough effect to be easily heard.

That's a good example, my guess is that the chip differences would be in the
same league as the difference between a Japanese and an American capacitor of
the same type. But the change from a ceramic to electrolytic cap would be much
greater than either of the others.

And this type of part can probably cause the largest sound differences of all.
