[sdiy] Popcorn Noise Generator?

This discussion has been very interesting.

I'm beginning to think that the best way to produce popcorn noise is to
have a digital recording of it. A recording of a few minutes length would
be plenty of popcorn noise. One could always trim it down shorter and
create samples of it, if they wanted. Having a few minutes in the original
recording would allow for many different shorter excerpts to be created.

Does anyone have a way to record a WAV file of isolated popcorn noise?

Does anyone even have any device which generates lots of popcorn noise?

Does anyone even have a _short_ audio clip of this sound?

(I'm still not exactly certain what classic, "textbook" popcorn noise
sounds like.)

take care,
McLilith
