What maskes popcorn noise kind of edgy, is that it 
follows a poisson distribution (that is to say, the 
time to the next burst is completely independent of the time since the 
last burst).

And, when people speak casually of 'popcorn noise', do they
refer to bursts of noise (like the old carbon microphones in
telephones had..showing my age there..) or to jumps in DC level 
occuering at very low frequencies?
Finally, wht is the easiest way to generate a poisson distribution 
anolog style (without a raqdioactive source)?
