Thanks to all that responded.  I just finished an Atmel ATMEGA8 
microcontroller MIDI post-processor for my Kurzweil keyboard 
project.  I process the MIDI output to transpose the keyboard back to 
the key of C.  I also added capability to select the MIDI channel, 
inhibit the general purpose slider initialization message, and 
output  send-all-notes off at power up.  The microcontroller also 
inverts the pedal signals for normally-open switches.

I posted the source code since it functions as a complete MIDI 
command parser.  I did not parse the single-byte real time messages 
but that would be easy to add.
