I can agree with the sentiment, but, what drew me to DIY was the
possibility for innovation - the ability to create something completely
new and unique that had not been done before.

I'm willing to bet that there is a good, solid design out there for an
analog function generator that's relatively simple without interacting
controls, and generates predictable (repeatable?) results. Someone just
needs to create it.
