Hi John and group!

I've been thinking along the same lines as I do have the same problem here.

Don't shoot me, but I was looking at the basic PAIA tube preamps...
http://www.paia.com/tubestuf.htm

I do, however, have no idea if they're any
good.... does anybody have any experience with
them???

On the other hand, I was wondering if Juergen
Haible's most recent creation might do the job????
http://www.oldcrows.net/~jhaible/opto_compressor/jh_opto_comp.html

Maybe Juergen could comment if a Rhodes' output
is too low for his opto-compressor? He mentions
that it's "magic" for a Rhodes, but is it
directly hooked up?

With regards to the sound of the Rhodes itself,
have you checked that all the pick-ups are
aligned correctly? They need to be positioned
slightly higher than the tines so that you get
more overtones. See chapter 4 of the manual:

With Best Wishes,

Dino
