[sdiy] AA143 Germanium Diode

Hi,

I'm 'compiling' a flanger design from a couple of different sources.  
One of the sources is Jürgen's Storm Tide flanger (thanks Jürgen!)

But I've seen he uses 2 AA143 diodes and these seem to be difficult to 
obtain in UK.  They are at the bottom left of this schematic:

It looks to me like they are just providing a fixed voltage drop.

The AA143 datasheet says these (Germanimum) diodes have a forward 
voltage drop of approx 0.3V at 2mA (up to max 0.5V at 15mA).  Can anyone 
recommend an alternative diode with similar characteristics?
