[sdiy] Discharging electrolytics

It is one thing to take calculated risks on your
own.

It is another thing to suggest to people, especially
those who do not know (viz. newbies)... that they
should take a calculated risk. The fact that they
asked means they don't know, so how COULD they
calculate that risk.

I am not suggesting that your method does not work for
you, just that it is ill-advised to recommend it to
others.

Discharging capacitors through a current limiting
means is the accepted practice. Period, the end.

It is not about 'looking like a bufoon' its about the
safety and well being of other synth-diy members.

I will be happy to argue this again in the future if
the question is raised again. Do what you like for
yourself, please don't invite others to it.
