[sdiy] OT: Help with Eagle CAD

I had been designing a bunch of PCBs with ExpressPCB until I realized I
could save hundreds of dollars by having the boards made elsewhere and
actually have silkscreen and solder masks too. So I am remaking all the
ExpressPCB designs in Eagle CAD but I'm a noob with it and I can't figure
out how to change some things I don't like. The most irritating thing so far
is how it places the component ID and value on the silkscreen layer. When
you put components next to each other the ID and values run together and
become unreadable. Also, if you rotate a component it's ID also roatates
which is very annoying because now that ID looks like it belongs to the next
component.
Is there some way of changing where the ID sits in relation to the actual
component like in ExpressPCB?
In the schematic mode I like to place the values of the compnents but I
don't necessarily want them to be printed on the PCB. If I turn off the
values in the view menu for the PCB does this mean they will not be printed
when the PCB is made?
The autorouter uses extremely thin wires, where can I change the wire width
it uses by default?

Besides these issues above this program is pretty decent for freeware. I
must say though I would never pay money for it unless they did something
about that dreadfull library - sheesh was that the best they could come up
with?

Thanks!!!
