Further to the comments of others already expressed, it occurred to me
when reading this that nobody ever said that the Strat didn't pass
muster because Leo Fender wasn't a guitarist... and wasn't it a good
thing for the popularity of synths that Bob Moog could count Wendy
Carlos as a good friend?
Construction and proficiency take different mindsets, although they are
both creative arts. I'd no more expect a synth builder to be a virtuoso
keyboardist than I'd expect Yehudi Menuhin to build his own violins, and
I don't think that detracts from the skills of either.
