ahhh, ok, here's where I differ.
I enjoy making new sounds using different techniques, yes I also enjoy
making music, but for me, thats a side effect of making new sounds.

But, as I say, its more of a 'by-product' than the reason for my designs.

IMHO, I agreee, 8 bit is not enough for processing, but for generating, its
fine.
A lot depends on your outlook on life and your ethos.
For me, synth building is a way of playing with new sounds and new
techniques. It doesn't have to lead to new music from myself. Plenty of
people use my products to make music with, and they sound great. So they do
get used, musically just not by myself in any big way.
