That's what I feared (and also expected).

Quite different here. All of my Yamaha stuff has PE and GND connected,
and I think all of my Dynacord stuff as well.
Also, I'm using more and more balanced connections (building devices
where PE is on the enclosure and on the connector sleeve, because
I go out balanced (tip/ring) and then grounding the shield is really the
best thing.)
My mixer (Tascam M-2516) has balanced Line inputs (and balanced Mic inputs
of course), but everything else is unbalanced: output, FX send/returns, Tape
machine
connections.
