[sdiy] what makes a transformer vibrate?

Transformers vibrate when you set them to 'silent'
and the little motor with the off-center weight
spins...

...oh wait... that's an FCP that does that (silly me)

1) Loose windings

2) loose lamination in the core

3) magentostriction in the core (change in physical
size with applied magnetic field)

Number three is not avoidable
