[sdiy] OT: chip info for MB63H172

Thanks everybody for valuable info! I havn't found anything yet though.

The chip is a 28-pin 0.6" DIL with a narrow groove along the pins 1-14 side,
which makes it look rather special. The only logo on it is the FANUC one,
although there are several hitachi circuits on the board. But the adjacent
"DSP" microcontroller is a TI one. This makes me think it's not a
controller. Also, it doesn't seem to have a very advanced task, just output
three square waves phase shifted 120 degrees at a variable frequncy.

The board is in a big FANUC milling(?) machine. It can switch between 30
different tools and the milled object can be moved in X-, Y- and Z
directions as well as be rotated. The chip is in the main (tool) motor
controller just before the three phase driving circuits. Like I said, it's
from 1986. (hey - maybe it's a Y2K problem? ;-P)

Fanuc makes roboters and CNC machines, so motor driver or servo
controller seems to be likely. The only manufacturer known to me using
the MB prefix is Fujitsu Microelectronics, they make microcontrollers
and also do ASIC jobs, so this could fit as well. So it might be a
Fujitsu chip, probably w/ a custom ROM or perhaps a full blown ASIC for
Fanuc. Good luck finding anything on the Fujitsu website(s) - they have
several and search functions were rather spotty last I looked.
