Would it happen to be a Hitachi part? IIRC, Hitachi is (or was)
a second source for the Motorola MC68HCxx MPU family and used a
numbering system similar to this. It might be a mask-programmed
MPU. File this under the "wild guess" category. :-)

BTW, is anyone here using the Freescale (aka Motorola Semicon-
ductor) 68xx or 683xx family in synths? The 683xx is fast and a
very good target for C and C++. GCC has good support for this
chip. You can compile GCC to function as a cross-compiler and
do your development on a peecee or Mac and then download the
binary to the target.
