How the heck did you manage to avoid battery leakage?  This turned out to be a 
problem for me with my old Simpson 260 recently...

I did a setup on a breadboard to test this some time back,  and was amazed at 
how low the drain actually was.

2016?  Something like that.  I have some of them around,  salvaged from 1541 
disk drives.  :-)
