keep in mind, the samchillian is still just a computer keyboard... the
output goes into a converter box [with pedalboard control] that turns the
keyboard out into midi [how much do you want to bet that it's based around a
PIC???], and a line back to the keyboard prints off the current settings.
there's a good deal of software online that does this, and it is pretty easy
to do with a pic [i used to have a link for a site with code and schematics,
but i can't find it now]... it's the relative pitch controlling part that
makes the samchillian fun :P
by the way... the awesome Yohimbe Brothers [Dj Logic and Vernon Reid -
http://www.ropeadope.com/yohimbe.html ] album Front End Lifter features a
couple songs with Leon G and his Samchillian, but the last track is by far
my favorite Innerspin (A Tone Hymn), sadly it is only a few minites long,
but definitely check out this longer version from the Samchillian site
http://www.samchillian.com/mp3/YohimbeLiveInBoston.mp3
but if you can find a site with software or info on doing something similar
with a PIC [hell, how hard could it be to just go 1:1 with the computer
keys?], check it out, it's definitely a fun concept.
