[sdiy] filters, inductors & Q

I don't see inductors used much in audio filters, but I think I read
somewhere that an inductor will have greater Q than a similar circuit
without one. What are good reasons to not use inductors in audio filters?

I ask because I was looking at the Crybaby wah-wah pedal schematic and it
has a huge 660mH coil in it. (It may be uH, but I'm pretty sure it was mH.)
I thought maybe this was just there because it was in a guitar peadl and
needed to be there to avoid damping the strings or soemthing, but that
really didn't complete sense to me. In a wah-wah pedal you'd want a nice
sharp filter so that makes sense if what I remember about coils is true. But
I don't know as much about using inductors in filters as I am with
capacitors and resistors. Most of the stuff on coils that I've read mostly
pertains to oscillators which could be thought of as a filter with a lot of
Q. But I haven't seen much application info.

I have these two really cool looking filters that used to be in an old touch
tone phone. I thought maybe I could do something with them. They have a lot
of taps though.
