Scope on a rope Re: [sdiy] I have seen the light (litteraly)

I'm glad this thread started, it made me get really sad that my scope was
broken. But then it seems to have fixed itself. I did give it "The Fonze".
That helps a lot. I also refer to that as "percussive maintenence".

Another thing to see on a scope:
Poeme Electronique by Edgard Varese.

I need to figure out a way to do that sound.

Another piece by the same composer is very interesting to watch too: Density
21,5

This is a solo flute piece. It's very interesting how dramatically the
harmonic content of a flute beng played changes.
What's the best way to emulate that? Lots of filters and envelopes?

Important question:
For some reason I always assumed that using a scope probe was mostly just
useful for high frequency work where impedences wreak more havoc, but would
I expect better results using a probe with audio? It's really simple to just
hook up RCA plugs right up to the scope. RCA to BNC adapters a re way cheap.
I also have what I call a "poor man's probe" which is just two mini clips
connected to an unshirlded cable to a BNC plug (I bought it ready made).
It seems to work really well.

But I wonder if this crap that I think is clock noise from my mp3 player is
really just distortion... Or just actualy nondistorted high frequency
content.
