[sdiy] Keyboard Controllers

Hello,

I recently got from a friend an old Casiotone MT70. I know, not very exciting. The thing is that I want to use the keyboard to get a CV + GATE output but I would like to do that without destroying the actual keyboard.

I had a quick look inside and it seems to have the usual diode matrix, similar (if not identical) to what can be seen here: http://www.maxmidi.com/diy/sk1/article.html for the sk1. My thought is to let the actual keyboard's CPU go raising the "select lines" (S0-S7 in http://www.maxmidi.com/diy/sk1/fig2.gif ) sequencialy and build up my logic looking to the values that those lines and the data lines (D0 to D3 in the same image) take and getting a binary representation of the key pressed. From there on, I guess I will proceed as done in http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/matrix_keyboard_may2004/matrix_keyboard_may2004.html

Has anyone done something similar, is there anything I am not considering that I should do.

Thanks in advance
