you could say 'hand-made by the person selling it to you', but DIY 
has a much nicer ring to it.

is DIY an ethos?  does one need wopping big smoke-stacks to 
mass-produce for grand consumption?  all i know is, if i could build 
a wopping big stack, all for my own, i would do so.  immediately.

maybe thats DIY?
