arguably the finest community for music DSP can be found on... the music
DSP list. http://music.calarts.edu/~glmrboy/musicdsp/music-dsp.html

they even have a source code archive. discussion on the list ranges from
basic to advanced, and there are some very helpful people there. much like
sdiy...
