Lego synth made me think of something I saw in an audio DIY forum. This
particular group was all about making their own DACs for their CD players.
(I found some nice AD DAC's and wanted to see about doing just that too...)
Anyway apparantly someone had tried stacking up a few DAC's - yeah stacking
'em up and soldering each pin in parallel. I think it was a TDA1311 or
something else Philips. I guess two and three high had been done, but
without any decent results. But EIGHT high was the magic number! It looked
like a famous piece of Italian architecture. I think I remember that it ran
kind of hot too. I can't imagine how doing that would enhance the quality of
the sound, but it made me wonder what would happen if one were to stack,
say, 8 4046's. They're cheap right? Also you could use a 4069 as one big fat
inverter. I do suppose power handling capability would be improved - maybe.
Anyone ever tried such kookiness?
