Nope, no such attitude here.  If it's a synth and DIY, it's fine. 
Writing your own DSP code is certainly considered DIY.

We do NOT have to spell digital as d!g!t at l to be "politically correct".
 You can type DIGITAL all you want.  DSP too.

As Dave said, this isn't "Analogue DIY Heaven".
