Dear Kevin, and list,
I think what you might be able to do is to use the Organs internal amp
to drive the speaker.finding where to insert the audio signal might be 
difficult with some organ designs.
part of the sound might be due to the mplifier characteristics.
the later Organs have two speed Leslie's the early ones are only one speed.
but you might be able to put in a Dc moter and speed control.
I think there is a kit available to make a single speed motor work at 
two speeds ( called a Hampton motor speed control ? }.
but they aren't cheap.
of course if the rest of the organ is in terrible condition,you could 
take the Leslie and and put it in another cabinet.
