The perfect piece of advice. Any time I need a real power supply, this is
exactly what I do. Even my bench supply is one of these things hiding in a
metal box. 

Sure, I have a PCB available for a simple power supply on my site, but I
only use these things on digital stuff, and because I never need to buy any
of the parts I need to put one together for myself. I have all these
"useless" expensive transformers sitting around that are unlikely to ever
get used!
