they quit making it a long time ago - there are plenty of circuits
online that are '3909' emulators using transistors.

only real difference is the power supply - but in reality
the 555 is a better chip and you get a fake cv input

thats me = i found a 3909 at an old radio shack in origonal case for a
dollar
so i bought it - like i said - look online /google there are alot of
'replacements'
using transistors that do exactly the samet hing.
theres nothing special about the chip except the low power consumption
so dont think theres anything special about it - get your self a 566!
