Another good idea (some will disagree) is to grab some surplus junk - old
telco gear, 80's organs and VCRs, etc, that can be bought for next to
nothing or grabbed from hard rubbish, and pull the circuit boards from them.
When you need a part and you haven't got one in the parts box, you will
often find what you need on one of the boards. Basically is a cheap way of
getting a wider range of stuff, including stuff you would not buy for
on-hand parts.
Stay clear of tape decks, boom boxes, Brother equipment, clock radios, TVs
and CD players. Nothing in them worth the effort of opening them up.
