NO NO NO....
switching power supplies run at very high frequencies...
50/60Hz on one of those transformers is saturation / fire
for sure
TRY the switching supply. Often they are NOT a problem
although they can be. If you do not notice any weird effects
you will be fine.
NOTE that most switchers need a certain MINUMUM current which
you must always draw or they don't work correctly. This is usually
somewhere arounf 20% of the rating but could be more, or less.
Make sure you use the minimum power, if only to light a boatload
of LEDs or something
