Grant, did you get my post which did in fact point to your site's Wogglebug
page? I instantly thought of that when a previous poster asked me for samples
of my PLL circuit "misbehaving" (quotes intended to indicate that there is
nothing wrong with a purposefully misbehaving or unconventional system). I
remember going to your site and looking at this and listening to the weird
bizzaro world noises it can make. Very interesting.
You're quite right (and I did laugh when I read "exhaustive Spice simulation
and simulating the fun out of it"), I've done this "Now I wonder what happens
if I turn the diode around?" thing in hopes of finding a holy grail. So far,
well, no grail yet, holy or otherwise. The closest I've come to a success
doing this is my Voltage Controlled SVF with Nonlinear Feedback, I messed with
all kinds of "what if" circuits - and I'm not quite done with that.
