Another source of good, but a little small ( usually 26ga ) multicoloured
wire is cut apart old printer and serial cables.  You can usually find them
in thrift stores and surplus places for pennies and each one is 6+ feed of
multicoloured fun available for the stripping.

The surplus places I frequent usually have a large mountain of misc cable
piled in the back and I've found good wire there too.  I've gotten a little
lazy lately and started buying spools of wire though.  Frys had a sale and I
picked up a dozen or so rolls in several colours.
