maz,
i used 24ga stranded on mine... as you say, the flexibility was important,
and there's a lot of connection wires to pack in there. i didn't bother
with coax, since mine is a standalone battery-powered unit w/ some shielding
from the case and very short cable runs.
best of luck, i think you'll find the soundlab a lot of fun.
