[sdiy] speaking of finding uses for parts...

I cannibalized a couple of cable descramblers the other
day and they each had a 565 PLL. I think I may
have seen a couple of good uses for them. They
might go well with the 564's I got from some satellite
tuners (pre-digital - those things had some parts in them).
They had a cool little copper winged heat sink on 'em.
I have 5 of those. I think I'll try to use them all in one
thing. Get 'em out of the way. I always thought the 564's
and the 565's might be useful since the 566 is a popular
chip for synth use. They don't seem to be all that similar
though. But I'm pretty sure I can get something decent
out of them..
Hmmm... maybe I could use them as the VCO's in my
insane BBD project. (I decided that I don't have /enough/
BBD's to complete the project - I should round it off
with a couple that have pretty long delays...)
I think when I'm done I'll break it in by playing Iannis Xenakis'
"Akrata" through it.
