[sdiy] unconventional uses for parts

Heh heh, "misuse", I love it. 4069UB et al are fine examples and the
data sheets include ways to "misuse" them, 4069UB has, for example, a
simple schematic for a high impedance analog amplifier (which is what
the friggin thing really is anyway). There's the René Schmitz 4069UB
sawtooth VCO, a _fine_ example of using this normally logic device for
analog purposes.
I've wondered whatever happened to those simple video amplifier chips
and have wanted to ask here if anyone has ever made any synth modules
with them. Anyone?
What is this?:
"Jetzt heisse ich Der Funkenaasfresser! (Im Aas sielen...)"
Babelfish wouldn't do much with it and my German (Hoch Deutsch) which
used to be fluent 25 years ago now sucks rocks.
