I wouldn't call it a piece of crap.  It's biggest limitation is control 
current feed through, IMHO.  Another limitation is the fact that it is a 
single.  I have several applications that require two OTA's that track each 
other in temperature.  Still, there are times where it serves a good 
purpose, and I will miss it, although I just happened to have purchased 100 
of them just before the news went out that it was discontinued.  The 
LM13600/LM13700/NE5517 are all better parts, and the CA3280 is the best of 
all (with a price to match).
