I think I heard once that 2BA is "British Association number 2" or something
British like that (speak up there across the pond) :)
very hard to find, so typically mellotron-ish...
IIRC the "4" is number 4 screw, and "40" is threads per inch. The missing
dimension is 1/2" or 1/4" or 3/8" for example.

I'm not so sure about inches. The thread is approx 3mm in diameter -
that doesn't fit with 4 * 10**N in inches, does it?
I thought you have somthing like a "number 4" type screws over there,
don't you ?
