[sdiy] GATE input on Technosaurus Microcon

Hey all,
I built a set of patch-cords from a Blacet kit (1/8") to connect my
Technosaurus Cyclodon to my Technosaurus Microcon and the GATE input will
only work if the cord is slightly pulled out. I still get some rhythmic
thwumping even when it's not gating properly.... To get it to work it's not
pulled out far, but just enough so that the thick (metal) handle part of
the 1/8" plug is not touching the nut on the gate input jack. What's going
on here? Am I getting some kind of a short? I tried all the different
plugs and even rebuilt a couple of the cords and it still happened. When I
used a HOSA Y adapter I got no such problem. Plastic case on the HOSA
handle. Hmmm....

Also of note, the jack is a 3-conductor jack, so that you can put external
audio through the VCF and VCA of the Microcon and the Blacet cords are
2-conductor. Could this be a problem? I don't think I am pulling the cord
out far enough to connect to a different conductor though, it really is
just a few milimeters.

Thanks for any help,
Rafael
