1) they don't generate much heat, being limited to less than 300mA and
as a
rule usually not more than 150mA.

2) the designer has to use higher grade components... better transformer
for less
core (heat) losses and much better electrolytics...as venting is a total
non-option.

that said... there IS some core loss as I found out by putting one
inside a box with
a sensitive circuit... for about ten minutes before I removed it :^P
