Phew am I relieved!! I thought for sure you were going to be neutered and
sleeping on the couch for the next 7 years!!

Then again, I saw the ;-D smiley at the bottom so I thought it might be you
goofing with us... still I thought 'just in case.' Basically Scott, you got
me. Was this a pre-emptive April Fool's trick?

Anyway, I'm sure we're all relieved that you're not going to be in Spouse
Gating Purgatory. ;)

Have a groovy day, and a wonderful synth-filled 2005.

BTW, your advice about putting the soldering iron away and taking your loved
ones out every once in a while is sage advice indeed.

Hi Tim and List,

Actually, I haven't had anything crushed by the wife (er..synth-wise
that
is, and never on purpose). That was me talking, actually, trying to
parody
the hoplessness a synth widow may feel competing with a ball of wire,
components and blinky lights. Sorry for any confusion.

Actually I'm blessed with a wife who may not share enthusiasm for this
malady we all have, but who nonetheless is quite supportive.

BTW, she's Vietnamese, only from the Old Country around eight years or
so
(we were married there), and has a fantastic talent for singing
Vietnamese
folk songs. The phrasing is long - really long, in fact, and it seems a
whole story is told in one breath. I've been trying to get her to
record
them now for quite a while, but she's always balked. She's either shy
or,
more likely, she's probably afraid about what I'll do with them by
running
them through the 'switchboard' after they're recorded =0). But, I think
they'd sound really good on their own, or very interesting when put to
EM.
Maybe in ten years she'll be cranking out the jam like Dana Bissell =0).

I really doubt there are any true 'synth widows' (or widowers) married
to
people on this list, but if there are, give'em a new year's kiss and
write'em a song on your particular contraption. Then lock the soldering
iron up and take her/him out to dinner. Often.

Happy new years,
Scott
