...Unless I'm misunderstanding the concept (simulating the Oberheim Xpander 
multimode filter circuitry), I don't think the SSM2044 would be usable in this 
context.  It doesn't offer discrete access to the four filter stages (unless 
you can somehow achieve this topography by simply taking signal taps from the 
2044's tuning cap pins?).  Of course, the CEM3320 and SSM2040, with I/O pins 
for their four discrete stages, would work fine.  I think the 
highly-unobtainable CEM3350 might also be a good candidate, but I don't have the data sheet 
handy, so I'm not sure.

P.S. - I really like that this thread refers to the "Mood" filter.  I 
definitely need one of those!  A Mood Synthesizer might be useful as well.

P.P.S. -- Then again, if there really was a Mood Synthesizer, we'd just spend 
hours arguing about how the word "mood" should be pronounced.  AH would 
surely explode into flames.
